Porches & Decks
The best compliment you can give a new porch on an old house is that it does not look new.
The roof pitch should make sense. Columns should have the right weight. Railings should fit the architecture. The proportions need to belong to the house instead of fighting with it.
That is especially important around La Grange, La Grange Park and Brookfield, where the front of the house often carries most of its character.
Then there is the other requirement.
You should actually want to sit out there.
We build cedar and composite decks, covered porches, screened porches and pergolas designed as real parts of the house, not accessories stuck to the back of it.
Build it right and suddenly dinner moves outside. Saturday coffee moves outside. Half the summer moves outside.
That is the point.
Tell us about the house and what you want to do with it. We’ll come look at it.
